Equine Physiotherapy

£75 initial assessment (usually around 90 mins)

£70 follow-up appointments (60-90 mins)

Firstly, the animal’s medical history is taken, along with details their management (shoeing, tack, dentistry, turnout) as it may affect their physiotherapeutic management.

Initial assessment then comprises observing posture, gait, behaviour and movement patterns. Then a physical assessment tests range of movement, palpation, and any further special tests. The horse or animal must have a competent handler to ensure safety and welfare of all involved.

Treatments depend on the assessment findings, and may involve discussion of management plans, Joint mobilisations, Spinal manipulations, soft tissue work (including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, reflex inhibition, scar massage) electrotherapy (PEMF, TENS, muscle stimulation, LASER, Ultrasound), Exercise prescription and/or taping (including Kinesio taping)

Rider / Human Physiotherapy

£65 (on land; 1hr)

Follow-up appointments reduced to £55 when combined with equine appt. on yard

£80 Ridden and land assessment

£30 ridden assessment + advice only

Assessment of a human may entail observation of postures both ridden and on the ground, functional movement patterns and strength. Muscle lengths, joint ranges of movement, palpation and any specific tests are assessed for the person’s complaint.

Treatments may then include Exercise prescription, Soft tissue work, Joint mobilisations, manipulations, Taping, and education regarding the problem.

Common reasons for human physio include Rider improvement (asymmetry, weakness, poor core control); Injuries such as old fractures, ligament sprains, muscle strains; Arthritis, Back pain, Neck pain/stiffness, Frozen shoulder, Rotator cuff tendinopathy, Tennis elbow,  Anterior knee pain, Plantar fasciitis, and many more.

Canine / small animal Physiotherapy

£65 initial assessment (1hr+)

£60 follow-up appointments  (45mins)

As with all animals, the current Veterinarian is first consulted, to discuss the animal’s history and veterinary treatment plan, which ensures safest and most effective practice for the animal’s welfare.

Initial assessment then includes observation of postures, gait, behaviour and movement patterns. Then a physical assessment includes palpation, range of movement, specific joint and muscle testing, and neurological assessment if relevant. As part of assessment often looks for a source of pain, the animal must have a competent handler to ensure minimal stress to the animal and safety of all involved.

Treatment options depend on assessment findings, and can include Exercise prescription, Neuro rehab, soft tissue work, Joint mobilisations, Electrotherapy, Taping, Splinting, and discussion of management plans liaising with the vet.
